I had no idea what on Earth a clafoutis was until the other day… seriously NO CLUE. But I decided to take that classic dessert and make it into a tart! I absolutely love to make tarts and baking this was super fun and tasted absolutely delicious. • • #shorts #fyp #viral #food #eat #tasty #pies #fruit #baking #cooking #recipes _______________________ ⭐️•Makes 6 Mini Tarts•⭐️ • • 🥧•Walnut Crust•🥧 ➡️ 1 1/3 Cups (160g) Flour ➡️ 2 1/2 Tablespoons (19g) Cornstarch ➡️ 9 Tablespoons (128g) Softened Unsalted Butter ➡️ 1/4 Teaspoon Salt ➡️ 1/3 Cup (40g) Powdered Sugar ➡️ 1 Egg Yolk ➡️ 1 1/4 Teaspoons Almond Extract ➡️ 1 Cup (100g) Finely Chopped Walnuts 🍒•Clafoutis•🍒 ➡️ 1 1/2 Cups (375mL) Half & Half ➡️ 7 Tablespoons (53g) Flour ➡️ 6 1/2 Tablespoons (89g) Brown Sugar ➡️ 4 Eggs ➡️ 3 Tablespoons (43g) Unsalted Butter, Melted ➡️ 1 Tablespoon Orange Zest ➡️ 1/4 Teaspoon Salt ➡️ ~ 1 3/4 Cups (200g) Chopped Cherries ➡️ 1 3/4 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract ➡️ Whipped Cream, Sweetened To Taste • • 1️⃣. For the crust, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, almond extract, salt, cornstarch for about 3 minutes, then add the egg yolk and mix until incorporated. Add flour, chopped walnuts and mix until it forms a dough. 2️⃣. Press into mini tart pans (about 6), dock the bottom with a fork, then bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes. NOTE: to prevent any shrinkage, refrigerate the tart shells for 30 minutes, then bake. 3️⃣. For the clafoutis, rub the orange zest into the brown sugar then add half & half, eggs, flour, melted butter, salt and vanilla then mix until smooth. Add the chopped cherries to the bottom of the tart crust then fill it with the clafoutis batter. 4️⃣. Bake at 300 Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes until just set. Allow to cool, chill for 2-3 hours, then optionally top with whipped cream! ______________________ 💡•Extra Tips & Advice•💡 ➡️ Toasting the walnuts is crucial to ensure they have a nice toasty flavour! ➡️ If you don’t like cherries, other fruits such as apples, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and much more would work great as a substitute. ➡️ The hint of orange in the clafoutis brings in that little extra bit of freshness and brightness! ➡️ Docking the crust ensures it doesn’t bubble while baking. It stays nice and even. ➡️ The whipped cream is optional, but you can also eat this with a scoop of ice cream or even sorbet! ➡️ I would highly recommend refrigerating the baker clafoutis for a few hours before eating to ensure it’s nice and set. ➡️ You can also use lemon zest instead of orange in the clafoutis, or even put some into the crust! ___________________________ If you would like to see more of my creations and recipes, check out my Instagram, Facebook and TikTok pages.
