Where I get my braces on in Dublin, Ireland: https://www.ncdental.ie Hi, so I am back with another braces update. Here I am getting my braces tightened and I bring you through what happens step by step. This appointment where they tighten the braces happens every 6-8 weeks. You'll know it's time to have your braces tighten when you no pain while you're eating. This will indicate that it's time to have your braces tightened as the pressure or force that braces apply has worn off and you can now have them tightened so that the progress of straightening your teeth continues. At the beginning of the appointment the orthodontist will check the progress of your teeth and braces. They will then look to see if there are any worn elastics or damaged brackets or if any of the wires have been damaged. If the teeth have made satisfactory progress they will fit a new wire. They don't always add a new wire as the teeth may not have responded to the previous wire. In my case they added a new wire on the top and bottom braces. The wires go up in size thus adding more pressure to the teeth thus encouraging the teeth to move into alignment. When they add on metal ties and tighten them on this can be a bit painful, so deep breaths people! They are usually the most painful the first seven days after the appointment or when the teeth are making progress and moving. I hope this video has been helpful! All information from this video was given from orthodontist during the appointment, I'm just relaying that information to you.
