Victorian government 'oblivious to the permanent damage' lockdowns cause to business

The Victorian government's impulse towards "random and reckless shutdowns" shows it is "oblivious to the permanent damage" lockdowns do to Victorian small businesses and the private sector, says Sky News contributor Michael Kroger. By contrast, Mr Kroger says the NSW government is "closer to business" and is "acutely aware of the devastating effects wreaked on small business by random shutdowns". "To understand the Victorian government response, have a look at the backgrounds of the senior ministers in the Andrews government and the Chief Health Officer ... between them, they have never owned a business ever, not one business once," he said. "Since leaving school and university, these top government officials have been in the workforce for about 30 years each, 240 years. Their collective record of owning or operating a business in those 240 years – 0, not one. "Is it any wonder these people do not have a nodding acquaintance with the consequences small business and the private sector of their random and reckless shutdowns? "It explains why the Andrews government takes a sledgehammer approach to a problem that should be dealt with locally, not by state wide lockdowns."
