Challenge: Loved Ones Overboard Winner: Jon Dalton https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Know_Your_Loved_One Know Your Loved One (also known as Loved Ones Overboard) is a recurring Survivor challenge. It debuted in Survivor: Africa and made another appearance in Survivor: Pearl Islands. Rules Survivors and their loved ones would answer a series of the same questions. The goal was to get matching answers for each question. The person who ends up getting the most amount of questions right, or the last person with a loved one in the game, will win. History In Survivor: Africa, the final six competed for reward, which Lex won. He chose to share the experience of a lifetime with Tom, when they got a hot air balloon trip over the African Savannah. In Survivor: Pearl Islands, the challenge was host to one of the most infamous moments in Survivor history, when Jonny Fairplay had arranged with his friend before the game to tell him that his grandmother had passed away, although she hadn't. That way, his tribe mates would let him win the challenge. This worked as he ended up winning and his friend got to spend 24 hours at the Balboa camp while the other six were sent to another beach. Trivia Both winners placed third in their original season, and were the first voted out of a tribe in their second season. In both episodes the challenge was used, a woman was voted out. This is the first recurring family visit challenge. This challenge has only appeared as a Reward Challenge. Furthermore, due to the nature of this challenge, it has only appeared for the family visit. https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Survivor: _Pearl_Islands Survivor: Pearl Islands, initially dubbed as Survivor: Pearl Islands — Panama at the Survivor: The Amazon live Reunion Show where it was officially announced, is the seventh installment of the United States version of the reality show Survivor. The season was won by Sandra Diaz-Twine by a landslide in a 6-1 jury vote margin against Lillian Morris. It would ultimately feature one quit (the first in the series), and has to date produced four returning players (Andrew Savage, Jon Dalton, Rupert Boneham, and Sandra Diaz-Twine) for subsequent seasons. Production The season was filmed on the Pearl Islands, off the coast of Panama, and had a pirate culture theme. The complete season, including the live Reunion Show, was released on DVD on February 7, 2006. Twists/Changes Tribe Composition: The sixteen castaways were divided into two tribes of eight. Unexpected Start: The contestants were made to believe that they will be shooting their cast photos, only to be informed that the game had already begun. With only the clothes on their backs, the tribes were given $100 to buy supplies with. Camps: The tribe camps were situated several nautical miles off each other. Looting: The castaways experienced pirate life with one member from the winning tribe from the Reward Challenge being sent to the other tribe to steal one item from their camp. Buried Treasure: Another advantage of winning a Reward Challenge was one of three clues to a treasure chest buried somewhere at camp. Inside the treasure were additional creature comforts such as food rations and blankets. Kidnapping: The Morgan tribe was given the right to kidnap one member from the rival Drake tribe after winning the Day 12 Immunity Challenge. Their chosen victim was also given immunity, skipping Tribal Council. Rupert was also forced to compete for Morgan at the following Reward Challenge. Outcast Twist: On Day 19, the ten remaining castaways faced a third tribe comprised of the first six departed castaways in a three-way special challenge. If The Outcasts win, both Drake and Morgan will go to separate Tribal Council sessions and will vote out one of their own. The Outcasts will vote two of their own back into the game, with the remaining four being eliminated for good. The two returning castaways will be granted immunity at their first visit to Tribal Council...
