In this epic guitar showdown, I'll be diving into the world of replicas: the Chibson, a Chinese copy of the iconic Gibson Les Paul Custom, and the Chi-SP, a Chinese rendition of the ESP – both inspired by James Hetfield's legendary Iron Cross guitar. The original masterpiece, a black Gibson Les Paul Custom modified by Hetfield himself with a gold stripe and the iconic Iron Cross, sparked a wave of homage guitars. I've left the Chibson stock, adding only the stripe and Iron Cross for that Hetfield vibe, sans the relicing. On the other hand, the Chi-SP underwent an upgrade extravaganza. Fitted with James Hetfield Signature EMG active pickups, an EMG 3-way switch, and Hipshot open gear gold locking tuners, it's as close to the original as possible. I acquired the ESP copy from eBay and the Chibson from AliExpress. Both guitars hold a special place in my collection, but the burning question remains: which one steals the show?
